Ahok claimed that he wanted to transform the skyline in Jakarta by installing many more giant billboards, his template cities seemingly being Hong Kong and Tokyo.
He also announced plans to make Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Thamrin more pedestrian friendly by widening footpaths by 9 to 10 metres and allowing street-side cafes to open up.
We can now assume both of these initiatives have been “kicked into the long grass”.
